The Underground Page

Sunday, July 7, 2002

Okay... you found it. This is a page I use to show photos to editors for their consideration for a feature story. Often I'll take digital photos at car shows, get the owner's info, post the photos here, and show them to my editor friends. Ain't technology cool!

July 7, 2002 UPDATE!!!

Below is the 1939 Willys of Bob Carter, from Franklinville, NJ. The cab and central section of the Willys is original steel and the blown 392 Hemi is out of a 1957 Chrysler Imperial. The car looks like a full-size version of a "Muscle Machines" die-cast toy. Needless to say, Bob's Willys pickup truck is a serious head turner and a crowd favorite at the South Jersey car shows.

Like Don Kellner's "Nightmare Corvette" below, Bob Carter's Willys is not a trailer queen. Bob and his wife Terri drive the car to and from car shows, as well as on weekends through the South jersey farmlands where they live.

June 14, 2002 UPDATE!!!

After MUCH consideration, Don and Suzie decided to have ghosted flames painted on the Nightmare. I haven't seen the car since the flames were painted on, but I'm told that they are AWESOME!

Updated pictures to come.

"Don Kellner's Nightmare Pro Street Corvette"

THIS IS NO TRAILER QUEEN!

Seriously folks. Don is one hip grandfather. Don and his wife blast around town and take the Nightmare out on the PA Turnpike for a quick sprint.

Don installed an air conditioner unit for those warm, humid Pennsylvania nights.

The roll bar is carefully sized so that the bolt-on top can be in place. very clean.

As if the huffer wasn't enough... Don added a nitious system. You can't have too many cubic inches or horsepower.

Nice view!

The finish and bodywork on Don's Nightmare is flawless.

Don's even taken his grandaughter to the dance in his pro Street Corvette. Since Don and Suzie like to get some miles in the beast,

Since these photos were taken, after MUCH consideration, Don had ghosted flames painted on the car.

Don say's they are very subtle. Of course, with a car like this, you wouldn't want to be too outragous, ya know?

For such a soft-spoken guy, Don sure has one LOUD car. Save the wave and rock on Don!
